n Mullingar, we designed and built a 32m² garden room that combines modern style with high performance. Featuring full-height aluminium glazing, sliding windows to both the front and rear, and a sleek ventilated façade, the room offers a bright and versatile living space that blends seamlessly into the garden.
Ruukki Classic 30 Standing Seam Cladding
For this Mullingar project, the exterior was finished with Ruukki Classic 30 standing seam cladding, a premium metal façade system known for its sleek look and outstanding performance. The matt finish delivers a refined, modern style that complements the large aluminium glazing, while the ventilated façade design helps regulate moisture and extends the life of the SIP structure beneath.
Ruukki Classic 30 is manufactured from high-quality steel with a durable coating system, offering excellent resistance against Ireland’s changing weather — from heavy rain to coastal winds. Its standing seam profile provides a timeless architectural character, while the hidden fixings ensure a smooth, uninterrupted appearance with no exposed screws. Low maintenance requirements make it an ideal long-term choice for garden rooms and modular builds.

Client’s Challenge
The client wanted a spacious garden room that would feel open and comfortable throughout the year while being energy-efficient and low-maintenance. They were also concerned about achieving a durable structure that would remain watertight, airtight, and visually striking.
Our approach and solution
We built the structure on an insulated floating foundation for stability and thermal performance. The walls were constructed from 124mm SIP OSB panels, paired with a 174mm SIP OSB roof system and sealed with Gerband airtightness tape to maximise insulation and airtightness. For the roof, we used a Firestone EPDM rubber membrane, ensuring long-lasting waterproof protection. The exterior was finished with a ventilated façade clad in Ruukki Matt Classic 30 standing seam panels, delivering a clean, modern look with excellent durability.

The finished garden room is a modern, energy-efficient retreat with panoramic light and year-round comfort. With its aluminium windows and sliders, it connects beautifully to the outdoors while maintaining excellent thermal performance.
