Here’s what you can expect when we arrive—clear steps, professional workmanship, and a system ready to perform from day one.

HOW TO INSTALL HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATION SYSTEM — PRANA MVHR
PRANA heat-recovery ventilation systems are available in a range of sizes to suit different spaces and requirements. A standard installation typically takes only a few hours and follows a clear, straightforward process:
- Selecting the most suitable location for the unit.
- Creating the wall opening using diamond core drilling.
- Installing and securely fitting the device.
- Connecting the unit to the power supply and commissioning the system.
Although compact in design, careful planning ensures optimal placement, seamless integration, and reliable long-term performance.

MVHR SYSTEM INSTALLATION: CHOOSING THE RIGHT SPOT
The PRANA unit must be installed on an exterior wall, where it can easily draw in fresh air and exhaust stale air. To ensure correct operation, the unit should be positioned at least 1.5 metres above floor level and no closer than 10 centimetres from the ceiling.
Ideally, installation is high on the wall and clear of any obstructions that could restrict airflow. If you already have an air conditioning system in place, it’s important to maintain adequate distance between it and the PRANA unit, as placing them too close together can reduce efficiency.

MVHR VENTILATION SYSTEM INSTALLATION: THE DRILLING PART
The wall opening for the recuperator should be drilled with a slight outward slope of approximately 2–3 degrees. This ensures that any condensation or rainwater flows outward rather than back into the room.
We use diamond core drill bits to achieve a precise, clean cut. The hole size depends on the chosen model:
- PRANA 160: 162 mm
- PRANA 210G: minimum 220 mm
- PRANA 210C: minimum 220 mm
Accurate drilling is essential. If the hole is not the correct size, installation becomes difficult and sealing less effective.
Once the opening is prepared, the unit is installed and sealed in place with professional – grade expanding foam tape. When fitted correctly, only the external and internal grilles are visible, with no gaps that could allow drafts or insects to enter.
Every PRANA system is designed by in-house engineers and installed by our own team of trained specialists, ensuring reliable performance and a flawless finish.
GETTING POWER TO IT MVHR VENTILATION SYSTEM
PRANA units operate on standard household power and can be connected in two ways:- Plug connection – A cable is run in 16 mm² conduit to the nearest suitable socket. This works well if the socket is close by and not overloaded.
- Direct wiring – The unit is installed in position, and a qualified electrician (arranged by the client) connects it directly to the household wiring. In many cases, power can be brought from the attic or another convenient source for a clean finish.
PRANA HEAT RECOVERY INSTALLATION WITH FUTURE GAFF
Installing a PRANA system isn’t rocket science — but getting it done right the first time makes all the difference. Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of DIY attempts that ended up costing more to fix than if they had been professionally installed from the start.
As the official PRANA distributor in Ireland, we know these systems inside out. We’ll assess your space, explain the installation process clearly, and give honest advice. If a unit isn’t the right fit for your home or business, we’ll let you know — because your satisfaction matters more than making a quick sale.
Our experienced team arrives fully equipped, treats your property with respect, and leaves everything clean and tidy once the work is complete. And if anything needs adjustment after installation, we’ll return and take care of it. That’s the kind of dedicated service you won’t get from a general handyman unfamiliar with PRANA systems.
